Humpty The Numpty

Whatever happened to Humpty when he fell right off the wall?

Do you think his life was shattered by that rather awful fall?

The King’s men weren’t much help to him, and let’s be fair, of course,

Would you really want to get much help from an actual equine horse?!

A passer by, they saw his fate, and dialled 999,

And stayed with Humpty Dumpty hoping that he would be fine.

A team of top-dog surgeons worked all through that fateful night,

And when the morning sun arose, his future wasn’t bright.

They’d managed to patch him up again but, as you’ll often find,

The main and lasting damage was the damage in his mind.

Once well and out of hospital he continued normal life.

He even settled down and found himself a lovely wife.

But in his darkest moments, when he doesn’t expect it at all,

He gets horrendous flashbacks of that day and that big wall.

You’ll sometimes hear him sobbing in the middle of the night.

Let’s face it, it really gave him a rather awful fright.

So when you’re out and at the park, playing Frisbee, kicking ball,

Beware of what is lurking by that harmless looking wall.

Is there something you can learn from Humpty Dumpty’s fate?

Don’t be a numpty and learn to sit up straight!

I have read this book of peoms and find them really funny. The nice thing about it is they can be appreciated by children and adults. I look forward to the next book

Thanks Mary, that was the idea. I still find them hilarious whenever I do a reading – they’re just so much fun for all ages, as you say. The next book is on its way, honest!
